Two minor boys drown in pond water after immersion ceremony in Bishalgarh

In a heart wrenching incident two children drowned in pond water, when they were taking bath in the big pond after immersion of festival at their maternal uncle house in Murabari area of Bishalgarh on Wednesday afternoon.

Sources said that two deceased boys identified as Saikat Debnath (15) and Dibakar Das (14), were maternal brothers in relation participated in the immersion ceremony of Goddess Manasha at their maternal uncle house in Murabari area of Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district on Wednesday morning.

After the immersion, both boys went to a nearby pond located at Balak Baba Ashram in the same village, but they didn't know how to swim. As a result, they started swimming in the big pond and drowned in the water.

Later, inmates of the house noticed the incident and informed firefighters. Firefighters in association of local villagers rescued both boys and shifted to Bishalgarh subdivision hospital, where visiting doctors declared them brought dead. The death of two minor boys has cast a shadow of deep grief and mourning in the entire Murabari village. While, after autopsy, the mortal remains of both boys were handed over to their relatives for last rites.
