Two rapists get 20 yrs of imprisonment under POCSO Act
A special court of North Tripura district on Saturday after prolonged hearing sentenced two accused persons to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act).
Police sources said that on August 27, 2017 afternoon two accused identified as San Urang (29) and Pintu Urang (25) of Manu Valley tea garden under Kailashahar police station of Unakoti district forcefully taken a 16 years old minor girl of their neighbourhood to a jungle and both accused persons committed rape multiple time upon the victim girl in a Jhum hut and left the victim girl in the jungle.
After the incident, an FIR was lodged at Damcherra police station on August 28, 2017 last under section 342,376(D), 109 and 506 of IPC and section-4 of POCSO Act.
On Saturday, the court of special judge of North Tripura district has convicted and sentenced both accused persons for 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for commission of offence under section 6 of POCSO Act and also sentenced for rigorous imprisonment of 20 years for commission of offence punishable under section-376(D) of IPC. Both the sentences of imprisonment will run simultaneously.
