Unrest in Bangladesh, 10 more Bangladeshi including tout held in Tripura by security forces
Amidst turmoil in Bangladesh and attacks on minorities, the infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura remained unstoppable and now 10 more Bangladesh nationals including women were arrested by security forces in different parts of the state for their illegal entry into India.
Despite, maximum deployment of BSF jawans in the entire 856 km stretch of Indo-Bangla border along with Tripura frontier after turmoil in Bangladesh, the infiltration by Bangladeshi unabated, though border guards equipped with latest technology to stop the infiltration has adopted strict surveillance across the border.
BSF in Tripura Frontier through a press statement said that on Tuesday based on specific information BSF Anti human trafficking unit and intelligence unit as a part of special drive to apprehend Bangladesh nationals carried out surveillance on suspected dropping points in small teams in general area of Amtali and Dukli under West Tripura district.
“In the early hours of Tuesday , BSF team along with sister agencies apprehended four female Bangladeshi nationals which included one baby. Subsequently based on lead, at about 8 AM, the joint party further apprehended six other Bangladeshi nationals along with one suspected Indian tout,” said BSF.
BSF sources added that initially they denied of being Bangladeshi nationals and tried to stake their claims by producing fake Aadhar Cards but during preliminary questioning they accepted of being Bangladeshi nationals. Further questioning is under progress by BSF and GRP.
BSF has stepped up the crackdown on the network of touts who are facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into the state of Tripura.
A BSF Spokesman said that the border guarding troops during the past few days foiled several infiltration bids in different bordering areas and also arrested some Indian touts and human traffickers during the past two weeks.
Over the last two-and-a-half months, above 220 Bangladeshi nationals and 32 Rohingyas were arrested by the Government Railway Police, BSF, and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
Most of the Bangladesh nationals told the security personnel that they intend to go to Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai “in search of jobs”.
The BSF Spokesman said that in view of ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, the BSF has stepped up its vigilance along the 856-km border with Tripura and maintained close coordination with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at various levels.
Saying that the BSF has introduced a multi-pronged strategy to prevent trans-border crime and illegal infiltration, the spokesman informed that surveillance has been stepped up and state of the art Hand Held Thermal Imagers and Drones have been inducted.
The BSF in coordination with the BGB is also conducting joint patrolling along the India-Bangladesh borders to prevent infiltration and numerous border crimes, the official said.
