The vessel, reportedly bound for India, caught fire after being hit by the projectile.

According to a report by The Nation, the Royal Thai Navy is coordinating urgent assistance for 23 Thai crew members aboard the ship.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyan said the Maritime Traffic Control Centre under the Navy Operations Centre received the first report of the incident at around 11 am on March 11, 2026. The Thai-flagged bulk carrier Mayuree Naree had reportedly come under attack shortly after departing Khalifa Port in the United Arab Emirates at around 3 am.

The vessel is said to belong to Precious Shipping Public Company Limited.

Quoting the Thai Navy, the report said the Royal Navy of Oman has already rescued 20 of the 23 crew members. Rescue efforts are currently underway to locate and assist the remaining three crew members.

The rescued sailors have been brought safely ashore in Khasab.

Authorities said the cause of the attack is still under investigation.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf, with Iran reportedly carrying out retaliatory strikes following recent actions by the United States and Israel in the region.
