Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced he would award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
In his Truth Social post, Trump said: "As President of the United States of America, I am pleased to announce that Rudy Giuliani, the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot, will receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM, our Country’s highest civilian honor."
"Details as to time and place to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!" he said.
The announcement was made just a day after Giuliani was hurt in a car accident in New Hampshire.
He is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Michael Ragusa, his head of security, earlier wrote on X: "@RudyGiuliani was in a car accident in NH on Aug 30 after assisting a domestic violence victim. He sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously. Thank you for the prayers & support. official statement below ."

Giuliani served as the 107th mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001.
He previously served as the United States Associate Attorney General from 1981 to 1983 and the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1983 to 1989.
