From briefing room to baby bump: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt expecting second child
Washington DC/IBNS: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced that she is expecting her second child, a baby girl, due in May 2026.
Leavitt, 28, who is married to real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, shared the news on social media. The couple already have a son.
Announcing her pregnancy, Leavitt said she and her husband were “thrilled to grow our family” and were looking forward to seeing their son become a big brother.
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” she wrote.
Leavitt also thanked President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, saying the administration fosters a “pro-family environment.”
“2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!” she added.
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard congratulated Leavitt, commenting, “Wow!! Congratulations!! The most beautiful blessing.”
In 2022, Leavitt ran for the US House of Representatives from New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district, winning the Republican primary but losing the general election.
She later served as national press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and, in January 2025, was appointed White House press secretary, becoming the youngest person ever to hold the post at the age of 27.
As press secretary, Leavitt is the principal spokesperson for the White House, responsible for briefing the media on the administration’s policies and activities, and is known for her firm defence of the government’s positions.
