"Throughout the war and in recent months, Ahmed advanced and directed numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops," the IDF said in a statement.
The Israel- Hezbollah conflict began after Hamas attacked on October 7, 2023, triggering tension in the Middle East.
A ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hezbollah in November last year.
The ceasefire halted the hostilities that had occurred for more than a year.
However, the recent attacks have once again sparked concerns over the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah.
Under the ceasefire deal, Hezbollah had agreed to pull its forces north of the Litani River and even dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in south.
Israel was supposed to withdraw its forces across the United Nations-demarcated Blue Line.
According to media reports, it still holds five positions in south Lebanon.
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera: “We will not accept the continued [Israeli] occupation.
“There is no room for normalisation or surrender in Lebanon,” he said in a televised address.
