Man guns down his girlfriend before killing himself in New York
A 41-year-old man shot dead his girlfriend, 32, before pointing the gun towards himself in New York City on Tuesday.
The gunman pointed the weapon at his screaming girlfriend before sources and witnesses told New York Post that he shot her in the head outside his home on Jefferson Avenue near Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick around 7:30 a.m.
He shot himself twice before collapsing motionless on the sidewalk.
A male witness told New York Post: "She was running. She was screaming."
“She tried to run away but he shot her. She just dropped. Then he shot himself. I still can’t believe it. He lives there," the witness said.
The witness said the shooter knew the woman for several years.
“He had his troubles, but I don’t know what to say,” he added.
“Nobody thought he could ever do that! I know him a lot longer. They were together, but I don’t know her. I don’t know how long,” he said.
The woman was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, and the man to Woodhull Medical Center, where they both succumbed to their injuries, police told New York Post.
According to reports, the gunman had nine prior arrests.
the latest happened just weeks ago, on Jan. 22, for allegedly sending naked photos of himself and another woman he’d been dating to that victim’s daughter, sources told the newspaper.
The woman was also previously arrested for a parole violation.
