At least 14 people died, and several others were injured during violent clashes that erupted after Generation Z protesters took to the streets of Kathmandu to demonstrate against corruption and the Nepal government's decision to ban multiple social media apps.

The army was deployed in the Himalayan city after agitators reportedly broke curfew restrictions and entered restricted zones near Parliament.

The deceased protester, allegedly shot during the clashes in New Baneshwor, died while receiving treatment at Civil Hospital, The Himalayan Times.

The identities of some of the injured people is still not known.

In Damak, Jhapa, the angry mob was seen marching from Damak Chowk toward the municipal office.

The angry protesters reportedly burned the effigy of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and even attempted to break the municipal gates, leaving one person injured after police used rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.

In the Himalayan town, demonstrators set several motorcycles on fire.

In New Baneshwor, photographers and journalists were among those injured. Dipendra Dhungana of Naya Patrika, Umesh Karki of Nepal Press, and Shyam Shrestha of Kantipur Television were struck by rubber bullets while covering the protest and are being treated at Civil Hospital, the newspaper reported.
