Pakistani social media influencer shot dead in Islamabad, cops suspect honour killing
A 17-year-old content creator was shot dead in Pakistan's Islamabad city, with police suspecting it to be a case of honour killing, media reports said.
Unknown people killed the content creator inside her home on Monday.
The slain content creator was identified as Sana Yousaf.
According to police, the suspect had a brief conversation with Sana Yousuf outside her home, after which he opened fire, Dunya News reported.
According to reports, she was shot twice and succumbed to her injury later.
The attacker escaped the spot after the incident.
The motive behind the attack is still not clear.
The dead body was shifted to PIMS Hospital for medico-legal purposes where a postmortem was completed, and the body was handed over to her family afterwards, reported Dunya News.
Police said initial evidence has been collected from the scene.
Police are obtaining CCTV footage from the cameras located nearby.
Not The First Case In Pakistan
In January, a Pakistani father allegedly killed his daughter in the name of honour for making TikTok videos in the South Asian country's Quetta city, media reports said.
Police said during the investigation, they found the 15-year-old Pakistani-American dual-national girl was shot dead by her father and maternal uncle.
Hira’s father was enraged over his daughter’s lifestyle and social media presence, particularly her TikTok videos, reported ARY News.
According to reports, she refused to obey her father's order of not making TikTok videos.
The police officials told ARY News that Anwarul-Haq had shifted to America with his wife and children several years ago.
He came to Pakistan on January 15 with Hira while his wife and two other daughters remained in the USA.
The police said the murder was preplanned and Anwarul-Haq had hatched the plot with the TikToker's maternal uncle Tayyab Ali.
Police have registered a case.
Both the accused have been arrested.
