'Unconditional surrender': Trump warns Iran, saying he knows where 'Supreme Leader is hiding'
US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran's Supreme Leader, asking him to 'surrender unconditionally' and also stating that he knows where Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is hiding and can get him eliminated.
"We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump said the only reason the US is choosing not to eliminate Khamenei is to avoid any retaliation against American civilians and troops.
"But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" the US President said.
He also demanded an "Unconditional surrender".
Trump had earlier vetoed Israeli plans to assassinate Khamenei.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, reiterated that the quickest way to end this conflict is to eliminate Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, media reports said.
"It's not going to escalate the conflict, it's going to end the conflict," Netanyahu told ABC News in an interview on being asked about Trump vetoing the Israeli plan to kill the supreme leader.
"The 'forever war' is what Iran wants, and they're bringing us to the brink of a nuclear war," Netanyahu said, adding that "In fact, what Israel is doing is preventing this, bringing an end to this aggression, and we can only do so by standing up to the forces of evil."
The Israel-Iran conflict entered the fifth day, with both sides launching missiles at each other and even targeting civilians.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli military claimed to have eliminated Iran's top military commander, Ali Shadmani, during an overnight strike.
The IDF describes him as the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's closest aide.
Israeli forces had earlier attacked nuclear infrastructure in Tehran, besides striking its oil depot.
