Shah wrote on X: "Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate @AmbareeshMurty is no more."

"Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones," he said.

Pepperfry is a popular online marketplace for furniture and home decor.

A bike enthusiast, the entrepreneur was on a motorcycle trip from Mumbai to Leh when the tragic incident happened, media reports said.

Murty, who was an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Calcutta, has described himself on his Instagram bio section as: "Closet Sociopath, History Buff, Solo Rider, Furniture Salesman, Poker of Bears."

Meanwhile, people started to mourn his death by posting their reactions on X.

Writer Amish Tripathi wrote: "Terrible news. Ambi was my senior from IIM-C. A great guy. Our batch mates and I are all in shock… Sincere condolences to his family. "

Writer Harini Calamur said: "Deepest condolences. I am so so sorry."
