Forensic teams and senior police officials arrived at the site shortly after the incident.
The entire area has been cordoned off, and security personnel are on high alert as authorities examine whether the blast was accidental or the result of deliberate foul play.
“Samples from the scene are being collected for forensic analysis. We are not ruling out any possibilities at this stage,” a senior Delhi Police officer said.
The explosion occurred near one of Delhi’s most prominent tourist and heritage landmarks, located just minutes from the Red Fort and close to the busy metro station, leading to temporary traffic diversions in the surrounding areas.

Officials have urged the public to avoid spreading rumours and to follow updates from official channels as the investigation continues.
The incident occurred hours after a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Haryana Police busted an alleged inter-state terror module and recovered more than 350 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate from a village in Haryana’s Faridabad — barely 50 kilometres from the national capital.
According to media reports, an assault rifle and a cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered during the operation.
The seizure was reportedly linked to individuals associated with a medical college in Faridabad.
This is a developing story, and further details will be shared once authorities release more information.
