Delhi court adjourns pronouncement of order on Manish Sisodia's bail application
New Delhi/IBNS: A special court Wednesday adjourned till April 28 the pronouncement of order in the bail application of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case.
Special Judge MK Nagpal after hearing the matter said, "Order on the regular bail application of the accused is still not ready."
He said the matter will be listed at 4 PM on April 28 for pronouncement of the order.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed the bail application of the AAP leader by alleging a conspiracy in the framing of the Delhi Excise Policy to provide illegal benefits to certain people.
It has been alleged that the framing of a new liquor policy for Delhi has resulted in extraordinary profits for wholesalers.
Counsel for Sisodia has submitted through his bail application that not a single penny has been traced from the accused or his family account. He submitted that Sisodia has always cooperated with the investigating agency and no incriminating material was found against him during the searches.
He reiterated that no offense under section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act has been made out against Sisodia.
He requested to the court that no fruitful purpose would be served by keeping him behind the bar, so kindly grant him bail.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia on Feb 26 after questioning him on various aspects of the Excise Policy for 2021-22.
Later, the ED got his custody under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. According to the investigating agency, the Excise Policy suffered from irregularities in its formulation and implementation.
