Indian retaliatory firing leaves 4-5 infiltrators killed as Pakistani army attempts to cross LoC: Reports

By IBNS
Apr 2, 2025 ..

The Indian Army shot down four to five infiltrators after Pakistani Army personnel intruded into Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Tuesday, media reports said.

The intrusion violated the ceasefire agreement between the two nations, sources told India Today.

The Army said the infiltration attempt in the Krishna Ghati area of the Poonch district was successfully foiled, the news channel reported.

The Indian Army personnel retaliated after  Pakistani soldiers and infiltrators opened fire targeting them.

Sources told India Today that the Pakistani side suffered heavy casualties.

According to reports, no loss of life or damage to property was announced on the Indian side.

"On April 1, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LoC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by the Pakistan army. Our troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. The situation is under control and being closely monitored," a defence spokesperson told India Today.

India and Pakistan had reaffirmed the ceasefire agreement along the LoC in 2021.
