Jammu and Kashmir: Five killed, 12 injured as car plunges into gorge in Doda
Jammu: At least five persons were killed and 12 others injured, two of them critically when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Bhaderwah Pathankot road in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that the vehicle ferrying passengers met with the accident near Guldanda in which five persons were killed on the spot and 12 sustained injuries.
“Five people have been killed and 12 injured,” Vishesh Pal Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner, Doda, told UNI.
He said that two of the injured persons are to be airlifted to Government Medical College Jammu.
“Spoke to DC Doda, Vishesh Mahajan after receiving information about the unfortunate casualty of five persons in a road accident on Bhaderwah-Pathankot road and 12 injured. Some shifted to GMC Doda, two more seriously being airlifted to Jammu. All further assistance, as required will be provided. I am in constant touch,” Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted.
Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started the investigation.
