Kolkata: Teen student stabbed to death by a friend after altercation inside Dakshineswar Metro Station
A 17-year-old school student was stabbed to death by a friend following a heated argument inside the Dakshineswar Metro Station, located close to Kolkata, on Friday.
The incident triggered panic among commuters.
The deceased student was identified as Manojit Yadav.
He was a student of Bagbazar High School.
According to eyewitnesses, the students arrived at Dakshineswar by metro around 2:30 p.m. Before leaving the station premises, an argument broke out between them, escalating quickly into a scuffle. In the heat of the fight, one of the students allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked his friend, leaving him grievously injured. Blood reportedly spilled across the station floor, creating panic among commuters.
The injured student was rushed to Baranagar State General Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and cordoned off the area for investigation. CCTV footage from the metro station is being examined to identify those involved. Metro officials confirmed that bloodstains were found in the non-ticketing zone of the station.
Officials and commuters expressed shock, saying they could not recall such a violent incident ever taking place in the history of Kolkata Metro.
