In the first list, the Left has fielded several young faces like Srijan Bhattacharya, Dipsita Dhar, Sayan Banerjee.

The Left Front fielded CPI-M leaders Srijan Bhattacharya from Jadavpur, Dipsita Dhar from Sreerampur, Sayan Banerjee from Tamluk, Saira Shah Halim from Kolkata South.

Senior CPI-M leader and an ex-MLA, Sujan Chakraborty, has been fielded from Dum Dum, where he will take on sitting MP from Trinamool Congress (TMC), Saugata Roy.

The Left Front announced the names of 16 candidates while the Congress is yet to clear whether it will stitch an alliance with the Communists for the upcoming polls.

Speaking on this, Left Front chairman Biman Bose said, "If Congress wants to have a seat adjustment, we won't turn it down. They have to come forward and accordingly, the seat adjustment negotiation can continue."

Earlier, the Congress was eager to make a seat-sharing agreement with the TMC, the staunt opponent of the Left, but Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last Sunday snubbed it by announcing candidates in all 42 seats.
