The evacuation took place as part of Operation Kaveri which was launched by the Indian government to bring back the nationals stranded in Sudan.

10th batch of evacuees with 135 passengers onboard IAF C-130J flight departs Port Sudan for Jeddah.
On Tuesday evening, the first batch of 278 Indians left Sudan Port for Jeddah on board INS Sumedha, while two other batches, of 121 and 135 Indians, were flown to Jeddah on board two IAF C-130J aircraft later in the night.
