No casualties have been reported so far.

This is the second consecutive night when Pakistani troops provoked the Indian side.

Officials told the India Today news channel that Indian troops responded proportionately to the situation, ensuring border security remained intact.

Army Chief Visits Srinagar

Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday visited Srinagar to review the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

Pahalgam Attack

The picturesque Baisaran meadow, which attracts thousands of tourists every year, echoed with the sounds of guns and the wails of victims on Tuesday afternoon when terrorists, who were apparently in camouflage, gunned down 26 people.

According to reports, terrorists asked the victims to chant Islamic verse and even pulled down their pants to check circumcision in a bid to confirm their Hindu identities and then opened fire on them.

A Nepali national was also killed in the attack.

The Indian Army has launched a massive manhunt since the attack took place to track down those terrorists who are involved in the incident.

Indus Waters Treaty

India on Thursday formally informed Pakistan about its decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, which comes into effect immediately in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The Indian Government on Wednesday evening suspended the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan indefinitely as a part of some strict measures taken against Islamabad over the "cross-border linkages" that emerged during the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack.

Some other stringent measures taken by the Indian government included the downgrading of diplomatic ties, expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, and the closure of the Attari land-transit point, among others.

Modi Promises Strong Retaliation

Promising a strong retaliation against Pakistan over one of the worst terror attacks that took place in the popular tourist spot in peak season of tourism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the terrorists and their backers will pay unimaginable costs for the attack on innocent tourists.

Addressing a rally in Bihar's Madhubani, Modi said: "From the soil of Bihar I tell the whole world that India will identify them and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the end of the earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished."
