The victim, identified as Yuvraj Mehta, died despite a prolonged rescue operation carried out by police and emergency teams in the presence of his father, Rajkumar Mehta.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred in Sector 150 when the car allegedly went out of control amid dense fog.

Rescue efforts continued for over four hours, involving police, fire brigade personnel, and teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Mehta’s body was eventually retrieved from the ditch and he was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Mehta, a resident of Tata Eureka Park Society in Sector 150, worked as a software engineer with Dunnhumby India in Gurugram’s Sector 54. The incident reportedly occurred while he was returning from his office.

Police said Mehta managed to exit the vehicle and contacted his father, who then alerted the authorities, prompting the rescue operation.

Speaking to NDTV, Rajkumar Mehta said his son was already unresponsive by the time they reached the hospital.

“We took him to the hospital, but he was long gone by that time. I tried everything in my power to save him,” he said.

“I kept running around asking for help, but no one could get him out in time. He kept saying ‘papa mujhe bacha lo’ (Papa, save me) during his last hours,” he added.

Family members have alleged negligence by authorities, claiming the absence of reflectors on the road amid dense fog contributed to the accident.

Sarvesh Kumar, in-charge of the Knowledge Park Police Station, told NDTV that any negligence found during the investigation would be examined and appropriate legal action would be taken.
