Pune techie kills 3-year-old son over suspicion of wife’s infidelity
Pune: A 38-year-old man in Maharashtra's Pune allegedly murdered his three-and-a-half-year-old son over suspicion that his wife was in an extra-marital relationship, media reports said.
Himmat’s body was found in a forested area in Pune’s Chandan Nagar area with his throat slit, reported NDTV.
Originally from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Madhav Tiketi and his wife Swaroopa had been living in Pune.
According to the police, the couple had a heated argument on Thursday afternoon, after which Madhav stormed out, taking their son with him.
He reportedly spent the early part of the day at a bar before heading to a supermarket and eventually to a secluded forested area near Chandan Nagar, according to the report.
When neither father nor son returned home, Swaroopa grew anxious and lodged a missing person’s report at the Chandan Nagar police station late at night.
CCTV footage provided crucial leads in the investigation.
At 2:30 PM, Madhav was last seen with his son, but by 5:00 PM, he was spotted alone, purchasing clothes.
Using mobile tracking, police traced him to a lodge, where he was found heavily intoxicated.
Once he regained consciousness, Madhav allegedly confessed to killing his son. Following his directions, police located the crime scene in a nearby forest, where they discovered the child's body with his throat slit.
"Last night, the child's mother approached us and filed a missing report. During the investigation, we found the father drunk in a lodge. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the murder. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway," a senior police official was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case of murder has been registered.
