Indian Idol winner Prashant Tamang, who worked in Paatal Lok, dies at 43
Indian Idol Season 3 winner and singer-actor Prashant Tamang passed away at the age of 43 on January 11 in New Delhi, according to reports.
He is said to have suffered a heart attack, though official medical confirmation is still awaited.
Tamang rose to national fame after winning Indian Idol in 2007, becoming a household name across India, especially in the Northeast and Darjeeling hills.
A native of Darjeeling, he was born on January 4, 1983.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Tamang served as a constable with the Kolkata Police and was reportedly part of the police orchestra.
Following his musical success, he went on to build a career as an actor, featuring prominently in Nepali cinema.
His notable works include the hit Nepali film Gorkha Paltan (2010) and several other films in the industry.
Tamang also gained wider recognition for his role as Daniel Lecho in Paatal Lok Season 2, marking his entry into popular Indian web series.He is survived by his wife, Geeta Thapa, and their daughter, Ariah.
