You won't believe who's playing Santa this Christmas! 'Virgin River' star Alexandra Breckenridge pulls off stunning transformation in Netflix film
Alexandra Breckenridge’s My Secret Santa has ushered in the Christmas spirit and the cozy ‘hot chocolate’ mood a little early, with the film premiering on December 3, 2025, as part of Netflix’s holiday slate.
Directed by Mike Rohl, the film stars Alexandra as Taylor, a single mom who disguises herself as Santa to land a holiday-season job at a luxury ski resort so she can afford her daughter’s snowboarding camp. Romance, holiday hijinks, and identity-confusion unfold, with Ryan Eggold playing her romantic interest.
In a recent People interview, Alexandra shared her excitement at stepping out of her usual roles to play Santa. “I’ve been wanting to do something really outside of my comfort zone for a long time, and this is not something I ever thought I would have the opportunity to do,” said the 43-year-old actress.
She added, “I don’t think many women or female actors would think that they would play Santa Claus in this capacity, so I was really excited to wear prosthetics, put on a new voice, and try a different posture.”
The film was shot in early 2025 in British Columbia, Canada, using a ski resort location to double as the luxury resort in the story. Billed as a feel-good holiday rom-com, reviewers have noted its use of classic “disguise” tropes, blending comedy, romance, and family-centered storytelling.
Meanwhile, Alexandra will also return to Netflix’s hit series Virgin River in its seventh season, expected to release in 2026.
