Duckett, Crawley lead England's batting supremacy against India in Manchester
Manchester/IBNS: England decimated the Indian bowlers to quickly go past 200 after bowling out the visitors for 358 on the second day of fourth Test in Manchester on Thursday.
England took only 46 overs to pile up 225 for the loss of two wickets at stumps on day two.
Ben Duckett (94 off 100 balls) and Zak Crawley (84 off 113 balls) made the biggest damage to the Indian bowling unit that looked too ordinary despite having six bowlers including allrounders.
While all rounder Ravindra Jadeja caused the first breakthrough for India dismissing Crawley, debutant pacer Anshul Kamoj sent back the dangerous Duckett.
Ollie Pope and Joe Root held their turfs batting at 20 and 11 respectively when the day's play was called off.
Earlier in the day, India's vice-captain Rishabh Pant took the courageous step of resuming his batting with a foot injury powering India to 358.
Pant, who was unbeaten at 37 when he was injured on day one, finished his half-century to much applause from the spectators.
The southpaw, who will be replaced by Dhruv Jurel in the match behind the wickets, was bowled by Jofra Archer (3/73) in the same manner the wicketkeeper-batter was shown the exit door at Lord's second innings.
Shardul Thakur, a bowling-allrounder, slammed 41 until he was caught in the gully by Duckett off a delivery by England captain Ben Stokes, who took a fifer.
