Indian cricketers' wives not allowed for entire tour: BCCI's stricter rules after BGT drubbing
Mumbai/IBNS: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new set of rules barring cricketers' wives from accompanying their husbands for the entire tour in a corrective measure after a drubbing in Australia.
The decision has likely been taken in a meeting between BCCI officials, India captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
As per various reports, the wives won't be allowed to accompany the cricketers for more than 14 days on a tour of more than 45 days.
The limit will be reduced to seven days for shorter tours.
In the recent Australian tour where India were defeated 1-3 by the hosts, several cricketers' wives including Anushka Sharma, Athiya Shetty were present at the stadium in all matches.
The Indian cricket board has also mandated that all cricketers irrespective of their individual stature will have to travel in team buses and not solo.
Clipping Gambhir's wings, the head coach's manager has reportedly been barred from staying in the team hotel, watching matches from the VIP box and travelling in the team bus.
Prior to the Aussie drubbing, India were whitewashed 0-3 against New Zealand at home, a rare scenario where the national team suffered a massive defeat in their own backyard.
