South Africa reach T20 World Cup final, dash spirited Afghanistan's hope
Port of Spain/IBNS: A nine-wicket comprehensive victory for South African dashed the hope of spirited Afghanistan to reach the T20 World Cup final.
In quite a contrasting picture to what they had hoped for, Afghanistan were bowled out for just 56 in 11.5 overs in the semi-final on Thursday.
Azmatullah Omarzai was the only batter for Afghanistan to touch the double digit, scoring 10 from 12 balls.
Tabraiz Shamsi was the most successful bowler for South Africa clinching 3 wickets for 6 runs in 1.5 overs. Marco Jansen clinched 3 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.
In reply, South Africa chased down the target scoring 60/1 in just 8.5 overs.
Reeza Hendricks (29 from 25 balls) and captain Aiden Markram (23 from 21 balls) remained unbeaten to ensure South Africa are through to the final, where they will take on either India or England.
India-England second semi-final will begin at 8 pm IST.
