30 BSF jawans hospitalized after food poisoning
Altogether 30 BSF jawans of 199th battalion, posted at Latiyapur BOP of Kailasaha were hospitalized after they had severe complaints of food poisoning.
Sources said that after Tuesday night dinner, a total of 30 jawans started suffering from abdomen pain, vomiting and other ailments related to food poisoning.
Immediately, in the early hours of Wednesday, all the sick jawans were admitted to the RGM Hospital in Kailashahar.
Giving details Dr Shanka Shubra Debnath of RGM Hospital said that soon after admission of all BSF jawans necessary diagnosis were conducted along with tests for Malaria and Typhoid. But, the results show only two jawans are positive with Typhoid. He said that all the symptoms related to their ailments due to food poisoning and after necessary treatment, the condition of all jawans are now stable.
Among the seek jawans, 16 were admitted to RGM Hospital, 5 in Unakoti district hospital and remaining jawans are in their camp after primary treatment.
Dr Debnath said that authorities of Food Safety and top officials of BSF have collected samples of food, which were served on Tuesday night dinner. He said all 30 jawans were hospitalized due to food poisoning and there are no such symptoms of any critical illness.
