In a major success, the West Agartala police station has recovered 25 lost mobile phones and a large quantity of stolen gold jewellery during special operations conducted on the basis of intelligence inputs.

Police on Sunday handed over 25 stolen mobile sets to its actual owners after these mobile phones were recovered by Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) and West Agartala police station from different places of the city.

While giving details SP(West Tripura) Namit Pathak said that  the recovered gold ornaments are estimated to be worth around Rs 35 lakh in the market. The recovered items were formally handed over to their rightful owners in accordance with court directives during a programme held on Sunday at the police station in the presence of SP Namit Pathak, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rana Chatterjee, and other police officials.

Addressing the media, the SP stated that the recovered items were seized in connection with two separate theft cases registered on April 23 and May 9.

Acting on leads gathered during the investigation, police launched operations that resulted in the recovery of the stolen gold jewellery as well as the missing mobile phones.

The Superintendent of Police further informed that a total of 10 accused persons have been arrested in connection with the two theft cases and have been sent to judicial custody following court orders. He credited the prompt and sustained efforts of the investigating team for the successful recovery of the stolen property.

He added that based on the complaints, during investigation, police managed to recover 25 smart mobile phones within the last two months of GD Entry and most of the smart mobile phones were recovered through Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).

SP also said that the recovery and return of the valuables to their rightful owners reflect the department’s commitment to effective investigation and public service. The owners expressed relief and gratitude after receiving their lost and stolen belongings.
