AMC council Abhishek Datta arrested in arms act case
Taking a prompt action, the Agartala police on Friday arrested one councilor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) along with two more accused persons after they allegedly harassed a woman advocate.
On Thursday, one woman advocate Susmita Paul , a junior to senior advocate Purushuttam Roy Barman and an independent candidate for 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency filed a specific FIR at West Agartala police against AMC councilor Abhishek Datta and few other persons and alleged that she was stopped by these miscreants showing a gun and physically assaulted her.
After the incident, Purushuttam Roy Barman rushed to the spot and rescued the woman and they brought her to West Agartala police station and filed the FIR.
The West Tripura district police through a tweet said that “on the alleged incident of assault on a lady at Benerjee Para on Thursday under West Agartala police station. Police registered a specific case and arrested three accused persons including one FIR named accused and investigation is in progress.”
Police sources said that Abhishek Datta and two other accused persons were arrested under Arms Act and they will be produced before court for further legal proceedings.
