Body of a driver recovered from drain in mysterious condition
In a tragic incident, the body of a young driver of a goods carrying vehicle was found in mysterious condition in a drain at West Pratapgarh area of AD Nagar police station of Agartala on Saturday.
Police sources said one mini truck driver identified as Ajit Das (35), a habitual drunker, after returning from his work on Friday evening went to his mother's house. Then, he along with a few other drivers had engaged in a boozing party.
In the midnight, one his co-driver called him through mobile and in reply Ajit had told him to prepare his dinner. But, after hours, Ajit did not return to his rented house at the Thakur Palli area of West Pratapgarh and did not respond after repeated phone calls. Ajit’s wife had already left him and stayed at her parents’ house in Bishalgarh due to his habitual drinking.
On Saturday morning, some pedestrians noticed a body of a youth lying in a drain and they informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Police added that prima-facie they suspected that Ajit under the influence of heavy drinking may have fallen in the drain by slipping and they shifted the body to GB Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police said that they cannot say anything in detail over the nature of the death till the findings of the autopsy report and they, by registering an unnatural death case, started investigation.
While, mother of the deceased driver suspected some foul play over the death of her son and demanded proper police investigation.
