CM visits bereaved families of drowned children in Khowai district
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha paid a visit on Wednesday to the homes of two children who were drowned in the river Khowai and extended government support.
During his visit, the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed the concerned officials to ensure that the administration provides all possible government assistance to support them in coming days too.
The unfortunate incident occurred on May 21 when three children, Moutushi Das (12), Ankush Nama (7), and Khushi Roy (10), drowned while bathing in the Khowai river with their grandfather.
Chief Minister Dr Saha, who was in Khowai district for a party program, took the opportunity to visit the homes of Moutushi Das and Khushi Roy to personally offer his sympathies.
Speaking with the media, Dr Saha expressed his deep condolence over the tragic incident, which has shocked the entire state.
He mentioned that there are no words to adequately express the pain caused by such an event. The Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Whip Kalyani Roy, extended his sympathies to the affected families and assured them of government support.
He also mentioned that financial assistance has already been provided, although he acknowledged that no amount of help can bring back the children.
“It was a heart-breaking incident. As I came here to Khowai for the party's program, I have decided to meet the family members who have lost their children. Another child who drowned in the unfortunate accident is a resident of Bishalgarh and I will go there too. We have no words to express about the incident. We also helped them financially but this all can’t bring the children. I pray to God for the families to find strength and solace during this difficult time. It was a very painful incident”.
