The Sadar AMC Committee of the Tripura Fair Price Shop Dealers' Association on Tuesday rejected allegations of shortages in ration supplies and attributed complaints regarding the non-availability of food grains at certain ration shops to delays by some dealers in depositing the required funds.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Agartala, association leaders said that the late submission of payments by a section of ration dealers has resulted in delays in the delivery of food grains and other essential commodities to their respective shops.

The association further alleged that a vested interest group is spreading misleading information to create confusion among beneficiaries and tarnish the image of the state government. According to the leaders, the government is making sincere efforts to ensure the smooth functioning of the Public Distribution System (PDS) across the state.

They maintained that adequate stocks of essential commodities, including rice, pulses, and sugar, are currently available and that there is no overall shortage in the ration distribution system.

The press conference was attended by the association’s Sadar Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Committee Vice-President Pradip Majumdar, Joint Secretary Sajal Kumar Deb, Treasurer Anish De, and other members.
