Finance Minister inaugurated training camp on GST collection
The state budget has increased to about 27 thousand crore rupees in the last financial year. In that fiscal year, the state's own source income was 2,765 crore rupees which is almost double compared to that of the 2017-2018 financial year. Majority of this comes from GST. Therefore, the state government has emphasized on real tax collection from taxpayers. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said this while inaugurating a one-day training camp on GST collection organized by tax authorities at Agartala Town Hall yesterday. DDs of all the departments under Agartala Treasury-1 participated in the camp.
At the training camp, the Finance minister also said that by adopting the correct approach to collecting GST, government officials can play a role in increasing the state's own income. He said that as the income of the state increases, the government will be able to take more people-oriented policies for the welfare of the state and the people. He said that the state's own income is limited. Most of the developmental work requires the help from the Centre. But as much as it is possible to earn from the state, it should be earned in a proper manner with the joint efforts of all. Speaking at the camp, Commissioner of Tax Rakhi Biswas said that from June 14 to June 16, training will be given to the DDOs of all the departments under the 3 treasuries of West Tripura district regarding GST collection. Later such training camps will be organized in every district of the state. 181 DDOs of Agartala Treasury-1 from various departments also participated in this camp on Wednesday.
Additional Secretary of the Finance Department Akinchan Sarkar, Treasury Officer of Agartala Treasury-1 Harshita Biswas and others also spoke on the occasion.
