Agartala city police has achieved a major breakthrough in its investigation into a series of vehicle theft cases in city, with the arrest of four accused persons. Police have also recovered a stolen auto-rickshaw from Krishnanagar and several stolen bikes from different parts of the city.
Giving details officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen said that an auto-rickshaw was recently stolen from the Krishnanagar area, while multiple complaints of bike thefts were reported from various locations across Agartala. Based on the complaints, West Agartala police station registered cases and launched an investigation.
During the course of the probe, police identified and detained suspects linked to the theft cases. Following interrogation and further investigation, four thieves were arrested. Police said the stolen auto-rickshaw and bikes were recovered from their possession.
The police are also investigating whether more people are involved in the vehicle theft racket and efforts are on to identify other members of the group.
Sen added that four persons have been arrested in connection with the Krishnanagar auto theft and bike theft cases in Agartala. He added that the stolen vehicles have been recovered and further investigation is underway to verify additional information related to the cases.
He also said that the city police will strengthen surveillance against vehicle theft networks operating in the city.
