Agartala city police have recovered gold jewellery worth around Rs 3.25 lakh that was accidentally left behind in an e-rickshaw by a passenger.
According to reports, on September 1, Niranjan Debnath was travelling with his family from Gorkhabasti’s PN Complex to the Agartala railway station when he accidentally left a bag inside the e-rickshaw. The bag contained two pairs of gold bangles, a gold chain and a mangalsutra, weighing approximately two bhori (Tola) and valued at around Rs 3.25 lakh.
After receiving information about the incident, New Capital Complex (NCC) police station analyzed CCTV footage from the IT Bhavan area and, following the efforts of SI Jainal Hossain, identified the e-rickshaw and traced its driver.
Police subsequently recovered the entire bag containing the jewellery from the driver’s residence. The driver reportedly was unaware that the bag had fallen behind the seat of the vehicle.
On Friday, NCC police station handed over the recovered jewellery to its rightful owner. Speaking about the recovery, NCC police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Paritosh Das provided details of the incident.
