Govt stresses on infrastructure development for improvement of sporting activities, Sushanta Chowdhury
The state government has prioritized infrastructural development for quality improvement of sporting activities of the state and the state could churn out great sport persons by improving the quality of sports, when they get appropriate infrastructure , said Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury after inaugurating a synthetic turf football ground at BKI ground in Belonia on Friday.
Chowdhury said, total 4 synthetic turfs have been set up in the state for development in football and a total of Rs. 20 crore has been spent for construction of these grounds. While speaking about the aims and objectives of the department, he said, the department is making efforts to install such a football ground, one in each sub-division for infrastructural development of football. The department aims to bring out players from village areas to state, national and international levels. The work undergoing in sports sector of the state at the cost of
70 crore rupees for infrastructural development will be utilized for developing sporting activities and sport plays a huge role in keeping a person healthy or physical and mental development, said Chowdhury and added that a special emphasis has been given to sports in the new education policy. The Youth Affairs & Sports department is playing a huge role in the fight against drugs , said Chowdhury and hoped for everyone’s cooperation in the society in the fight against drugs, Tripura will be a drug free state of the country.
The Minister also said, if other small states can organize national games, then Tripura also can. National level players will come up from Tripura and everyone has to have a positive outlook towards it. He said, the state government is bringing to consideration to reserve seats in all levels of jobs of the state for sport persons having national meets in order to encourage young boys and girls of the state towards sports. The Minister urged locals of the area to be responsible to conserve the newly installed football ground.
The ground has been constructed at the cost of about Rs 5 crore. MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik also spoke in the inauguration programme and welcome speech was given by District official of YAS department Debashish Bhattacharjee. The programme was presided by Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council Nikhil Chandra Gope.
