New Year gift to state govt employees, pensioners, 12% DA announced
In a significant decision and a big gift to government employees and pensioners, Tripura government on Tuesday announced 12% DA, DR to its employees and pensioners with effect from December 1st, 2022.
Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Secretary J K Sinha and Finance department secretary Brijesh Pandey said that along with release of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness relief (DR) to state government employees and pensioners, the government has also increased the rate of remuneration , wages of the fixed pay, DRWs, MRWs, PTWs and contingent workers etc.
Dr Saha said that despite serious shortages of resources, the government has considered releasing further installments of DA and DR at the rate of 12 % and after release of 12%, the total release of DA and DR now stands at 20%. He said that the government employees will get the 12% DA with their salaries in January, 2023.
The 12% hike in DA will also be applicable for all fixed pay employees and DR to all pensioners and to all family pensioners of the state government.
Dr Saha said that after the formation of the present government as committed in the Vision Document, the government awarded 7th Central Pay Matrix and after that the government has given 3 % DA and recently has also given 5 % DA and DR. Now with 12% fresh DA and DR, the total stands at 20%, which has drastically reduced the gap between state and central government employees.
The Chief Minister said that for both these decisions, the government will put an additional amount of around Rs. 120 crore per month and Rs. 1,440 crore per year in the hands of employees and pensioners benefitting more than 1,94,000 persons and families of the state.
With the fresh announcement of 12 % DA, the difference with central government employees now decreases to 18 % as the central government employees are getting DA at 38 %, whereas the state government employees will not get 20% DA.
Giving details, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma said that a total of 1,04,600 regular employees and about 80,000 pensioners and family pensioners will get the benefit from January, 2023.
He said that in addition, the state government has taken a major decision to substantially increase the compensation for the hard work done by the DRWs, MRWs, PTWs and contingent workers etc and increased over 50% in their remuneration, wages from the existing rate.
He said that over 8600 DRW, contingent, monthly rated, part-time etc workers will get the benefit of an increase in their monthly remuneration.
