Scorching heat: Schools across Tripura closed for 6 days
The continuous scorching heat with dry spell in the pre-norwester season, which has made life miserable and compelled the state government to announce the closure of all the government and government-aided schools in the state for six days from Tuesday.
As Tripura is reeling under intense heat along with other parts of the region, the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday had attended meeting with top administrative officials along with officials India Meteorological Department (IMD) here at Civil Secretariat and after suggestions of MET officials, the government in the afternoon announced the six days leave for all schools and has also requested all the private run schools to keep their institutions closed during the same period.
The Chief Minister through a tweet said that “The heat wave across the state may cause a bad impact on the health of the students. In this view, the state government has decided to keep all the government run and grant-in-aid schools closed with effect from April 18 to April 23, 2023. Besides, the private run schools have requested to keep their institutions closed during that period.”
The state is currently experiencing unrelenting high temperatures, with the mercury reaching around 39 to 40 degrees Celsius, which is 5-6 degrees above average for the current summer season. The scorching sun is making it difficult for people to go out.
While, sources said that some renowned private schools of the state including Holy Cross School, Agartala and others have also decided to shut their schools for next six days as advised by the state government and will start their online classes in the same period.
