In a significant public service initiative, the police of Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district successfully recovered 23 mobile phones that had been reported lost from different areas of Sonamura and returned them to their rightful owners on Monday.
The recovered mobile phones were formally handed over to their owners at the Sonamura police station premises by Additional Superintendent of Police of Sepahijala district, Rajib Sutradhar.
As part of efforts to recover lost property and strengthen citizen-friendly policing, the District Intelligence Branch launched a special operation. During the drive, General Diary (GD) entries related to lost mobile phones registered at Sonamura police station were thoroughly reviewed. Subsequently, through a coordinated effort involving advanced technology and intelligence-based investigations, police were able to trace and recover 23 mobile handsets with help of the Central Equipment Identity Register [CEIR] portal.
Based on the complaints, during investigation, police managed to recover 23 smart mobile phones within the last two months of GD Entry and most of the smart mobile phones were recovered through Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
Speaking on the occasion, police officials stated that returning lost property to citizens is a matter of great satisfaction. They added that Sonamura police station is continuously working to make public service initiatives more effective through the use of modern technology and intelligence-led policing. The successful recovery operation by the District Intelligence Branch is expected to further strengthen public confidence in the police force.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the district police after receiving their mobile phones. They said such initiatives have reinforced trust and confidence among the general public in the police administration.
