Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday visited the fire-ravaged court complex in Office Line area in Agartala, where a devastating blaze destroyed six shops and a local club late Monday night. Assuring affected families and traders of the government's full support; he said every possible effort would be made to help them recover from the losses.
During the visit, Dr Saha interacted with shop owners and local residents, assessed the extent of the damage, and directed the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to those affected by the fire.
Describing the incident as "deeply painful," the Chief Minister said the destruction had severely impacted several families whose livelihoods depended entirely on the businesses that were gutted.
"Such incidents are extremely painful. Only those who have lost their shops can truly understand the suffering, as these establishments were their primary source of income. From the preliminary information available, the fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit. However, the exact cause will be confirmed only after a thorough investigation," Dr. Saha said.
According to the Chief Minister, initial assessments indicate that six shops and one club were completely destroyed in the blaze.
"The government has already conducted a preliminary assessment of the damage. All possible assistance will be provided to the affected families, and I will also personally extend support. Restoration of the damaged structures is expected to take about a month. These businesses have been operating here for nearly four decades," he added.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by West Tripura District Magistrate (DM) Dr Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police (West district) Namit Pathak, senior police officials, and officers of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration during the inspection.
