Tripura to host meeting of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association of NE

Tripura after many years will host a two-day long meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) of India region Zone-III from Monday at the state Legislative Assembly, said Speaker Biswabandhu Sen.
Addressing a press conference at his official chamber in assembly complex on Sunday, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen said that except Manipur, all the speakers, deputy speakers and officials of other Northeast states will participate in the conference and the meeting will be chaired by Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will host a dinner for the leaders attending the meeting, many of whom started arriving in Agartala on Sunday. They will also visit places of interest, including the Tripura Sundari temple and Neermahal on Monday.
Sen said that after their visit to these places the conference will begin at the Assembly at 12.30 PM and the meeting is expected to continue. He also said that Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has extended support to the assembly at the administrative level and has declared all the guests as state guests.
The gathering will also decide where the next conference will take place. The last such meeting in the state was held during the former Left government’s regime in 2017.
During the press briefing, deputy speaker Ramprasad Paul and chief whip of the treasury bench, Kalyani Roy were also present.
