YC, NSUI activists’ gheraoed Ratan Lal Nath house protesting Mohanpur incident

Protesting attack and destruction of four LED vans of Congress in Mohanpur, the Youth Congress and NSUI activists on Monday  laid a siege around the residence of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath in Kadamtali area of Agartala  .

Hundreds of YC and NSUI activists gathered in the Kadamtali road and gheraoed the residence of Ratan Lal Nath and raised voices demanding his resignation and immediate arrest of all miscreants involved in the attack on Congress’s LED vehicles at Mohanpur.

The YC and NSUI workers were led by A Hasan Ahmed Khan, National Secretary General Youth Congress, YC state’s president Rakhu Das and NSUI’s state president  Samrat Roy and they also blockaded the road for one.

Amidst sloganeering, a large number of police and security forces rushed to the spot and all  YC and NSUI workers were dispersed by policemen and were arrested, while during the protest, the minister was at Mohanpur at that time.

It may be recalled that on Sunday afternoon in broad daylight, 4 campaign vehicles of the Congress party were vandalized and their flag festoons were torn off in the area adjacent to Mohanpur Fire Service station. Even a generator was taken away by a group of miscreants. Later, police registered an FIR and started an investigation to arrest all accused persons.

Similarly in Choraibari several Congress campaign vehicles were vandalized and detained by BJP miscreants. Pradesh Congress leaders rushed to the spot to rescue the cars.

Police sources said that the stolen generator was recovered last night from Mohanpur  area, but so far no arrest has been made.
