Bangladesh: Postponed HSC examination called off amid protests by students who demanded walkover
Dhaka/IBNS: The HSC and equivalent examinations, which were postponed, in Bangladesh have been called off amid protests from the students who demanded that they have to be qualified without any test, media reports said.
The students reached the secretariat on Wednesday and demanded the cancellation of the examinations, which were postponed.
The examinations were postponed in multiple phases due to anti-quota protests.
From July 18 to August 1, examinations have been postponed to multiple dates.
The cancellation of the examination has been confirmed on Wednesday.
The method to prepare the results will be decided later.
According to The Daily Post, a source at the education board said that after Sheikh Hasina's deposition, the trunk containing question papers was damaged in the attacks on police stations in different areas. "For this, the decision to take the test from August 11 was postponed. The Education Board proposed to the interim government to take the postponed examinations from September 11. It was also approved," the daily reported.
The candidates are keen to have results on the basis of the number of subjects on which examinations have been conducted.
Bangladesh is currently under the rule of an interim government, led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, after Sheikh Hasina resigned as the Prime Minister and fled to India facing massive protests.
