Hike in petrol price challenged in Pakistani court

By IBNS
Apr 17, 2024..

A petition has been filed in the  Lahore High Court (LHC) that challenged the recent hike in prices of petroleum products, media reports said.

As per details, the petition was filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique in Lahore High Court, reported ARY News.

He stated that the federal government has jacked up the prices of petroleum products which would lead to a further rise in inflation, the news channel reported.

Siddique said in his petition that the recent hike in prices of petroleum products cannot be justified since the prices remain stable in the international market.

The petitioner asked the court to declare the fuel price hike as void.

The Pakistani government recently hiked prices of petrol by Rs 4.53 per litre and diesel by Rs 8.14 per litre for the next fortnight, making the life of common people in the cash-strapped country further challenging.
