US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stressed on 'America First' policy of his government during his interaction with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
During his conversation, he stressed that Trump Administration will pursue a U.S.-PRC relationship that advances U.S. interests.
A statement issued by the US State Department said: "Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with China’s Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Secretary Rubio emphasized that the Trump Administration will pursue a U.S.-PRC relationship that advances U.S. interests and puts the American people first."
The Secretary also stressed the United States’ commitment to allies in the region and serious concern over China’s coercive actions against Taiwan and in the South China Sea.
"The Secretary also discussed other issues of bilateral, regional, and global importance with his Chinese counterpart," the statement said.
Trump, who won the polls last year, promised to impose massive tariffs on China.
However, he provided China with some breather after his inauguration by holding his initial plan of imposing a tariff on China.
He provided relief to China-owned ByteDance Ltd by giving 75 days to to find a partner for TikTok app.
