A group of 16 dacoits arrested with arms from city
In a significant success, the Agartala city police on Sunday managed to detain a gang of 16 dacoits including two women and recovered different kinds of arms and machinery under their possession with some stolen items.
Addressing a press conference here at West Agartala police station after arrest of the gang of dacoits, the SDPO(Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das along with Officer-in-charge (OC) and other officers of West Agartala police station said that the police has received an information that a group of dacoits were now stationed at Pragati school area to commit robbery in the city.
Based on the information, a contingent of police and security personnel led by SDPO and OC raided that area and managed to detain all 16 members of the dacoit gang including two women.
Police have also recovered different kinds of arms and machinery under their possessions, which were used to commit their robbery including many sharp weapons, cutters, electric drill machines etc.
During interrogation, gang of dacoits revealed that they had stored some stolen items at the house of one Abu Kasem of Joynagar area under the same police station and raided that house.
Police team during the raid has also recovered many valuable items, which were stolen during different theft incidents committed in and around the Agartala city.
Police added that the nationality of all arrested dacoits is yet to be ascertained and investigation is going on to determine how many of them are from Bangladesh.
Police said that for detailed interrogation, all these arrested dacoits will be produced before a local court on Monday with an appeal for police remand.
