Police personnel from New Capital Complex (NCC) police station have arrested a bike lifter in connection with theft of a scooter and a motorcycle, recovering both vehicles from his possession.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of NCC police station Paritosh Das said that a motorcycle was stolen from the Abhoynagar area on September 6. The owner subsequently lodged a complaint at NCC police station on September 10, following which police launched an investigation.
As part of the investigation, police conducted searches at several locations and eventually arrested a suspect from the Kalyanpur area. During interrogation, police recovered a stolen motorcycle and a scooter under his possession, the OC said.
Paritosh Das further stated that an active motorcycle theft racket may be involved in the incident. The arrested person was produced before a court on Wednesday, with police seeking five days’ custody for further interrogation.
Police are expected to question the accused in custody to gather information about other individuals who may be involved in the alleged theft racket.
