Voluntary blood donation is a noble service to humanity, and more young people should come forward to participate in such initiatives, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said on Sunday.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a blood donation camp organized by the All Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha at Shri Shri Mahanam Angan Ashram (Temple)in Banamalipur area of Agartala, as part of the foundation day anniversary celebrations of the religious organization.
Dr Saha said voluntary blood donation not only helps save lives but also develops a sense of kindness and social responsibility among the youth. He said greater participation of young people in such social service activities would also help keep them away from anti-social activities.
Highlighting the welfare activities of the All Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha, the Chief Minister said the organization has been working for the welfare of society throughout the year. Its activities include distributing food and ration items among needy people, promoting spiritual awareness and inculcating moral values.
He urged the organization to make greater efforts to instill moral and humanitarian values among the younger generation and educate them about honesty, kindness, forgiveness and tolerance.
Dr Saha said social initiatives such as blood donation help unite people and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood. Such activities, he added, serve both religious objectives and the broader cause of humanity.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of learning about Sanatan philosophy and tradition, saying that the glory of Indian culture has remained intact despite numerous invasions by foreign powers.
Referring to the inspiration behind the blood donation programme, Dr. Saha said it had been organized following the ideals of Mahanambrata Brahmachari, who had deep knowledge and understanding of Sanatani philosophy and showed humanity the righteous path in life.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation(AMC) Dipak Majumder, Chairman of the AMC Central Zone Ratna Dutta, and office-bearers of Mahanam Sevak Sangha were present at the programme as special guests.
