Acting on specific inputs, police from Maharajganj Bazar Town Outpost (TOP) arrested three thieves during an operation in the Lalmatia area of Agartala on Monday.
Police sources said that , cash amounting to Rs 10,000 has been recovered from the arrested thieves and the money is believed to be part of the Rs 56,000 stolen in the incident near a bank under the same TOP.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maharajganj Bazar Town Outpost, Dipankar Debnath, said the three arrested thieves are currently being interrogated, and police are attempting to gather further information regarding the theft.
Investigators are also examining whether any other individuals were involved in the crime and whether the detained suspects have links to an organized theft racket.
The investigation is underway. Police are verifying the source of the recovered cash and the extent of the suspects' involvement in the theft as part of the ongoing probe.
